St Petka's celebrated in Bedford

Parishioners in Bedford gathered together once more for the slava of the parish's Circle of Serbian Sisters, St Paraskeva.

Fathers Protopresbyter Nikola Kotur of Oxford parish and Proropresbyter Radmilo Stokič of the host parish officiated the blessing of the slava 'cake'. Father Radmilo gave an explanation of the life and importance of St Paraskeva within Serbia and the Balkans.

The host of the slava was Mirjana Vukoje and family who passed next year's slava to our Protonica Dragica Stokić.

The Sisters had prepared plates of mixed mezze including savouries and cakes which was blessed by the fathers.

The Šumadijski Venac, a traditional dance was performed by the parish's St Andrew's ensemble.

Zoran and Anđela performed a wonderful selection of traditional and newer songs to entertain guests into the evening. 

At the end of the evening a raffle was drawn, a fun diversion on this evening of community and fellowship.
