St Andrew’s parish priest Proto Radmilo Stokić officiated the service and blessed the bread. He continued to speak about the same themes he introduced days earlier at the parish chapel, observing there are few people remembered so fondly after a thousand years but Saint Parascheva is surely among them.
The hostess of this slava was his wife Protinica Dragica Seka Stokić and she presented the following year’s honour to Mira Lazarević. The sisters served sweet and savoury treats for guests and the president Vesna Simić accepted everyone’s gratitude on behalf of the kolo.
This annual celebration was lifted once more by a performance from the parish’s folklore troupe Sv Andreja which drew hearty applause from the audience. Choreographer Marina Ivanović and organiser Aleks Simić were also thanked for years of service to the parish ensemble.
The dancing carried on into the night with popular musicians Zoran and Andjelka Damjanovic serving up tunes old and new.
